"I've seen the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy three times?" Veruca replied, her eyes traveling from Kurt and Analora. "Hook and Clash of the titans circa 1981, I've seen ... twice?"
Tristan, despite not liking the situation they're in, cracked an amused smile after hearing Veruca. He almost snorted, but was able to control himself. It doesn't sound like she's joking when she said it. It's like she really thought Analora would be impressed with her 'knowledge' about pirates from films.
He drummed his fingers on the table, thinking. Then a realization came to him.

Ana smiled from ear to ear and laughed softly. "Great examples miss, but not quite what I meant. Guess I'll be having to explain meself. Back in 1659 there was a young woman who took control of a ship, gifted to her by one Captain Christopher Shaw, a Scottish pirate that terrorized the Spanish Main for a good 22 years. The Name of that ship is 'The Storm Crow'. Now many rumors surround that ship and it's captain. Some say that Bowes went down with her ship off the coast of Jamaica during a hurricane. Others say she took her ship right down to hell with her. None of these are true. Captain Bowes found a nice quite harbor, took what she wanted from her ship, then sunk it herself. I got that there name plate the day it was taken from the back of that ship.....in the year of 1732" Ana said with a smile.

Veronica took notice of Tristan's actions towards Veruca. Veronica crossed her arms and sent him a look, the kind of compassionate, yet aggravated look that said, "Be nice.".
"That's quite a story.", Emma said to Analora. "That kind of power, coming from a woman, was pretty rare in those days. And again, the level of maintenance on the antique is just something else.".

Ana laughed. "Aye, that I do, but ye be missing the point. Kurt, do ye still have the pictures from that study ye were doing about 10 years ago?" she asked.

Tristan noted the way Veronica was staring at him. She probably thinks he's a monster for reacting differently with Veruca. But he figured it would've been a different story if Veronica's has known Veruca for a long time, like he does. It's not so much as hate towards Veruca that he feels, but it's between amused and annoyed ... and ok ... adorable SOMETIMES.
Tristan's mind went back to what Analora and Kurt was babbling about.
"It's the necklace isn't it..." He broke his silence, eyes on his plate, playing with his fork. "It grants you immortality."

Kurt's eyes widened. For years, he had kept her secret, and he still remembered what he went through just get through to her ten years earlier. "What study?", Kurt asked, pretending not to know.
And shit, the kid knows.

Ana smiled at Tristan. "Very Good. Yes, yes it has. I am Analora Bowes, born in 1642, captain of The Storm Crow" she said with a warm smile.
"And you know exactly what study Kurt" she grinned.

If Kurt ever needed a cigarette, it was now. Analora was giving herself away. Granted, the people cleared out, but still. He didn't know if he could completely trust them. Ever since the time they met, he had made sure he kept what he knew about her away from the rest of the world. Whoever came her way, he took away. And now, here it was.
"I was young.", Kurt replied. "And I had an object and I was trying out what to do with it. I wanted to find something. Something different. Something meaningful. Most of the people I had encountered prior to Analora were either weirdos and assholes bent on their own shit. And I was shifting through files I had 'acquired', and in a few of them, I found Analora. And I remember looking at her for the first time, in a picture, probably from the thirties and comparing it to something from the eighties, and just seeing this look in her eyes. I saw age, wisdom, and more importantly humanity. So I came to town, had to lift an arm and a leg just to convince Analora to let me work with-and-for her, and now, here we are.".

Veruca had her mouth open and she was about to shove in her fork with lasagna, when Analora confirmed the truth. The lasagna fell on her lap and her mouth wide open. She couldn't move in utter disbelief.
"T'was easy to figure out really." He mumbled, elegant hand holding the crystal stem of the wine glass.
He carefully swirled the wine inside the glass, looked at the forming bubbles, and took a sip, in a graceful princely manner. He was listening to Kurt, Kurt who doesn't have an item and, as far as Tristan is concerned now, isn't a threat to him and Veruca. He wanted to know more about the pirate.
"If you wouldn't mind me asking," Tristan began to say. "How did you acquire the necklace?"

Ana thought for a few moments. "well how else would a pirate have come to own such a thing. That was.....That was the summer of '63. My men and I had taken a large Spanish vessel, Le Cartina. It was quite a battle but we did end up with quite a haul afterward, so worth it. I found that bloody necklace among the spoils. didn't even look twice at it for a whole year. But when I put that damned thing on....I dunno but I felt different. Years passed but my looks remained the same" she said softly.

"Excuse me for a moment.", Kurt said as he stood up and motioned outside for a cigarette.
Emma and Veronica watched Kurt as he walked away. Looking back at Analora, Emma said, "This is amazing. But given what I know now, I can't say I'm surprised. How old are you?".

"Far older than I like to admit. I'm about 368 years old by my count. But honestly I couldn't tell you my exact day o' birth" she said softly. She took a bite of her food and chewed slowly.

Veruca picked up the piece of lasagna from her lap and folded it on the extra napkin on the table. Tristan was finally talking and for Veruca it was a good thing. Atleast he's trying to reach out ...
"You're a thief." He stated a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "All pirates are, I suppose. They're only good at two things basically. Stealing and Murder."
Veruca was surprised at how calm Tristan said all those things. To think they were just guest inside Analora's house. And she's been nothing but a gracious host to them. She began to think that maybe it would be good if he doesn't talk much anymore. Maybe Tristan talking and reaching out wasn't such a good thing to wish for.
"I-I-I th-think you're basing you opinions from all the pirate movies you've seen. Right?" She stuttered, trying to stop any debate or argument that might happen. Then she turned to Analora, "I mean, when you said you and your men has 'taken' a large spanish vessel, you probably meant you bought it ... or something. Taken is a BIG word, and it could have different definitions ... he he ..."

Ana smiled dangerously at Tristan. "Aye, we have killed, and we have stolen. But it must be said, it was different in those days. I was an English pirate, and back then England had no feelings for Spain, and tended to turn a blind eye to the ships we sank. But It is mainly glitz and glamor of Hollywood. I myself killed a grand total of 4 people. But I had built up myself a reputation so fierce most ships simply surrendered if they saw my skull and cross bones. Read up on yer history lad. And believe me, spilling a man's blood is never pleasant, but when it is kill or be killed, ye aren't about to stand by and let yerself get shot, savvy?" she asked. "On the topic, allow me to offer ye a piece of advice. This is a dangerous life you have all found yerself in. Collectors will not hold back just because you are young, or if ye are a woman. If they feel the need to use violence to gather what ye carry, they will. So be careful with who knows about yer secret, and get yerselves a concealed weapons license" she added.

Emma and Veronica gave themselves the look. They were both pretty disgusted with Tristan's lack of appreciation for Analora's kindness and generosity. They turned their heads and before they could speak, Kurt walked back in and said, "You know, kid. You've got a lot of nerve talking to Analora like that. She just told you, a stranger she just met today, her biggest secret. She was kind enough to open her home to us, cook us dinner, and this in kind, is how you treat her? Maybe she's getting old, but I'm surprised she opened up to you, all of you about all this. That necklace she has is the only thing keeping her alive. Over the years, over the decades, there have people who have come after her for who she is and what she knows. Do you have any idea how hard it was for me when I first met her. Maybe I'm straying away here, son. But the bottom line is this: she's shown you kindness, she's willing to help you, the least you can do is show just a little bit of it back.".
