As soon as the plane landed on the runway, his heart began thumping like a wild and vicious boar, against his chest cavities. The flight from Switzerland was extremely long, but he didn't quite get enough shut eye because of the thoughts plaguing his mind.
Walking out of the Black Rock airport in New Mexico, made it worse for him. This is the fourth time he's gone here, since he was 9, but every moment he steps out of that plane and out here, he acts and feels like a wuss.
"It's the nerves... It's the nerves..." He repeated to himself, like some sacred chant. "Get out of my body... Get out of my body..."
His attention suddenly was caught by a man holding a white board with the name "Riley Crawford" written on it. He made his way to the guy and smiled at him.
"Excuse me, Hi." He greeted, pointing at the board. "That would be me."
"Oh." The man, who was probably in his late 40's, looked surprised and relieved. "Welcome to New Mexico sir, I'm Ben Silverman."
The man wearing the black chauffeur uniform and hat was preparing to make a little bow, when Riley stopped him.
"Whoa whoa whoa, don't ... don't." Riley exclaimed, holding Ben on his shoulders. "No bowing down, we're cool man, alright?"
With that he gave him a smile and Ben returned it. He walked Riley to the shiny black Rolls Royce Phantom. He opened the door for his master, but was surprised when the young man suddenly climbed to the front passenger seat, next to the driver's seat.
Ben fastened his seat belt as Riley did the same.
"I'm sorry I didn't recognize you earlier at the airport sir, I was told you would have blond highlights and such." He spoke, eyes on the road.
"Nah, it's okay. Oh the blond highlights I decided to ditch a week ago, girls don't like it apparently." Riley muttered, turning on the dial of the car's radio. "Damn. Do you have any ipod car charger? My Ipod's running a lil' low."
"No sir, I'm sorry."
Riley flashed him a Don't sweat it. smile and uttered, "So what happened to Rick?"
"Sir he flew to Utah a few days ago. His wife gave birth."
"Awesome! Is it a boy or a girl?"
"A boy."
"YESSSSSSS!" Riley punched into the air candidly. "Finally, he got himself a boy!"
"Yes." Ben nodded, finding it weird why Mr.Wickham's son was this ... friendly.
"That's my boy!" Riley cheered, his face lit up, imagining how it must be for Rick.
The Phantom entered the driveway of the mansion. He rolled down the window and poked his head out, to get a better view of his father's estate. When the car stopped, Riley climbed out, backpack swung over his left shoulder, and scanned the place. It looked the same way it did, the last time he was here, exactly 4 years ago.
The mansion was huge, and was painted white with dark gray roofs.
He proceeded, and pushed the grand front doors open, revealing the luxurious hotel like interior.
"Riley!" A small elderly latin woman, rushed towards him, her arms held open to hug him.
"Hey gorgeous!" He said, wrapping his arms around her, then he kissed her on top of her head.
"Oh my you've grown so much! Every time I see you, you get more and more handsome!" The old lady complimented, looking up at him.
"Thank you." Riley said smiling, and his beautiful blue eyes sparkling. "You look younger and younger Nan."
They laughed together, as the old woman led him to the west wing and his room at the second floor of the house. Riley threw his backpack aside and crashed on his big white fluffy bed with a groan.
The lady he called Nan, meanwhile, opened the curtains of the room to let the light in from outside the window. Riley murmured a thank you, eyes closed.
"It's been a stupidly long flight and I'm starting to smell like a pig." He joked, still lying on his bed. "I need a bath so bad."
The old lady chuckled and got fresh towels from the bathroom and placed it at the foot of the bed. She tells him again of how happy she is to see him again.
"Your brother's also here." She revealed, her face wrinkly as she smiled.
"Where, Here? In this house? When?" He asked sitting up, stunned, alarms ringing inside his head.
"Not in the house. He's in Andreas De Mesa with some friends. He's planning to visit one of this days." Nan informed, excited. "Isn't that great? You would finally see each other again, after 5 years!"
"Andreas de Mesa..." Riley's sentence trailed off. "That's an hour and a half drive from here..."
"More or less. Why?"
He got out of bed, got the towels and smelled the intoxicating wonderful scent of the fabric. He said, "You know that I'm his least favorite person in the world Nan. His blood boils when he sees my face. The feeling's mutual actually."
"Riley..." Nan began, sighing. "You know that's not true. Deep down you know that your older brother loves you."
"Half ... brother." He corrected, removing his dark blue hooded jacket, but leaving his shirt on.
"You share the same father, you have the same blood in you." She reminded him as she started to walk out of Riley's room.
Before she closes the door she said, "You'll see. Soon you'll both realize how much you love each other. You and Tristan..."
