READY THOSE CANNONS! STAND BY TO REPEL BOARDERS! screamed the young captain. The sound of cannon and pistol fire filled the otherwise peaceful sea. The Storm Crow was the smaller vessel in this fight, but what she lacked in size she made up for with determination and effort. Every gun she possessed was being loaded and fired at the Spanish Galleon that sat next to her on the foaming waves.
Analora stood on the side of the rail, grasping onto the rope ladder leading to the crow's nest. In her right hand she held a flintlock, which she fired at the on coming hoards of Spanish soldiers. Once the pistol was spent she tossed it away and drew her cutlass, slashed the rope she held on to, and with a dozen of her best men, boarded the enemy ship. The battle was fierce and there were casualties to both sides. Ana had taken several sword wounds, but was still fighting through the pain and blood. She had to take this ship, she simply had to. "Find the Captain Mr. Bates! She yelled to her first mate. "AYE MA'AM!" The man screamed back, cutting his way through three more soldiers as he worked on finding the elusive captain of the vessel.
The battle lasted for nearly an hour, before Ana and her men finally forced the captain to surrender. He and what was left of his crew were lined up on the ship of the deck, their hands behind their heads, as Ana's crew stripped them of their weapons and armor. Ana gazed on as the captain shot her dirty looks and swore at her in Spanish. She didn't care. Al she cared about was the gold that lay below the deck. "alright, Mr. Bates, you, henshaw and Roberts go below and start loading up the booty. Move what ye can back to th' crow. Make hast, this leaky old piece of Spanish filth is laden with English cannon wounds, she'll not be lasting long" Ana said finally. "I'll be joining you momentarily" she added. Ana watched as the prisoners were taken on to the Storm Crow before she made her way below deck.
"Anything decent lads?" She asked as she entered the captains private quarters. "Aye Captain. You were right, tis the ship we heard about in Jamaica" Bates said with a grin. On the ground around his feet were 6 large chests filled to the brim with gold, precious stones, and other valuables. "alright, load it all up, and take them to my quarters" She instructed. Bates and the other men nodded and began to remove the chests.
Back on the storm crow, Ana sat in her cabin, shifting through the treasure and cataloging everything they had plundered. It was quite a haul to be sure. She and her men would be living pretty for quite some time. There was but one chest left to go through. She stood and walked over to it, her parchment and quill in hand to take tally of the riches it held. The chest was finally emptied when she noticed something. What looked like a small ring on the bottom of the chest. "Well hello" she said softly. She reached in and pulled on the tiny ring. As she did, a small secret compartment opened, revealing a small silver neclace. "Hmm... lovely little trinket" she said, setting it off to the side. She closed the chest and secret compartment. "Alright". she said softly. "You I shall keep" She added, taking the necklace and setting it in her own private sea chest.
Ana snapped back into the moment, the timer on her desk buzzing. She turned to face her class. "Alright class, pens down and turn in your tests. Now before you leave, don't forget mid-terms are in two weeks, so I need you all to pick your subjects for your final papers by Monday. Have a nice weekend" She smiled. Her students began to file passed her desk, dropping off papers.
Finally all of her students were gone. Ana got up and walked to her classroom door, and shut it, locking it tight. She wandered back to her desk and plopped down into her chair, and sighed. she opened her desk drawer and opened the small hidden compartment, exposing her mirror. "Stupid thing. Doomed me to a life of loneliness" she said softly, running her fingers over the cool silver. She stuffed the necklace into her bag, then closed up her desk and locked it. She stood and pushed in her chair and walked to her classroom door. She flicked off the lights and left, locking the class up behind her.
