Veruca stopped playing with the ribbon, and shocked registered on her face. Last night, at their motel room, they were able to narrow down what saved Veruca from the car crash at the interstate. They both agreed that it has to be something, an object that has an ability. But they never really tested if it was the ribbon. Now here's a man telling them what the ribbon can do.
She met Tristan's eyes, but instead of shock they seemed to be doubtful, angry even.
"Stop the car." He ordered with a tone in his voice. His thick dark eyebrows looked menacing. "We're not going to continue, unless you stop the car and you tell us who the hell you are and how you know these things."

Ana sipped at her coffee as Kyle spoke, not wanting to cut him off. Once he was done, she set down her mug. "Sorry to hear about your father. I lost my parents awhile back, so I know what you are going through. As for what there is to do in this little hole in the wall, there isn't much. Not that I really get a chance to take any of it in anyway. Work keeps me pretty busy, grading papers and such" She said with a smile, picking up her mug of coffee and taking another sip.
She thought for a few moments, fidgeting with her pirate doubloon necklace as she sat deep in thought. "By the way, do you know where the apartment is? I know this town like the back of my hand. I could most likely show you if you'd like" she offered with another soft smile.

Kurt pulled over to the side of the road and said, "Fair enough.". Keeping his eyes on the rear view mirror, he surveyed them, checking them out one by one. He knew enough that Emma was holding on to her gun. There wasn't any need for violence. "I'm the man who's going to safely get you people to Andreas de Mesa. Don't think you aren't being followed, because you are. That crash gained enough attention that there are people after you.". Kurt glanced at Emma and continued, "Especially you and your sister. Now, its my job to take you all to Andreas de Mesa safely. We've already got your buddy Kyle up there. So, what's it going to be?".
Emma and Veronica glanced at each other. They knew what was best.
"If you were going to kill us.", Emma began. "You would have done it not long after we got on. You have our trust.".
Kurt nodded and replied, "Thank you.". Glancing back at the rear view mirror to Tristan and Veruca, he asked, "So kids, whats it gonna be?".

Before Tristan lashed out, Veruca squeezed his elbow to stop him. He opened the cab's door and stepped out, there wasn't anything insight, its just miles and miles of dust and sands. She followed Tristan and pulled him where the others wouldn't hear them.
"It's not like we can fly all the way to Arizona, Tristan." Veruca reminded, looking up at his beautiful face. "Besides, he'd be wacko to try and kill us. There's 4 of us, all with objects, and there's one of him."
He had his arms crossed over his chest, his grayish blue eyes looking for the horizon, thinking. For the first time, Veruca made sense.
"If anything goes wrong from here on, whatever situation we are in, don't EVER hesitate to use the ribbon." Tristan muttered, looking down at Veruca. His face a mix of concern and surrender. "Do you understand?"
Veruca nodded, a smile starting to form at the side of her mouth. Tristan walked with Veruca back to the cab and climbed in. Tristan was quiet, eyebrows furrowed he had his eyes locked at Kurt.
"We're okay." She announced for both of them. "Let's go?"

"Look kid.", Kurt began as he turned back to look at Tristan. "Whether you believe me or not, I'm here to help.".
Kurt faced the wheel again and drove off. It took them a day and a half before they finally reached Andreas de Mesa during the night. Kurt dropped them off at a motel and told them he would come for them in the morning. In the meantime, he told them to lie low and stay in their respective rooms, til he came for them in the morning.

"By the way, do you know where the apartment is? I know this town like the back of my hand. I could most likely show you if you'd like."
"I've got the address somewhere on me." Kyle said, reaching into his pocket and taking out a piece of paper with an address written on it. "And yeah, a helping hand would be cool, not really sure where I'm going or what I'm meant to do when I get there."

"We've got everything but the one bloody book we need."
"Calm down, this will be sorted out in due time, correct Mr. Toma?"
"Yes sir."
Jacob Toma was standing in front of a large half circle table. In each of the five seats sat a man, ranged in age between 35 and 60. They were all smartly dressed, and all had their eyes focused on Jacob, who felt a tinge of nervousness that felt almost alien to him.
"Mr. Roth had two daughters, they are likely the ones who got away with the book, correct?" the eldest man said, his voice powerful despite his age.
"Yes sir. Veronica and Emma Roth." Jacob told them.
"And what do you plan on doing about this problem?" the eldest man spoke first again. Jacob looked at him, already knowing the only correct answer.
"I'm going to put them out of the picture. When I return next," Jacob said, pausing for a second. "Veronica and Emma Roth will no longer be any issue to you."
