Kurt Grippe spent much of the night standing by his balcony and smoking, gathering his thoughts on what he needed to do. The memory of losing his item still haunted him, somewhere in there, he also wondered where he was going with his life and the people he left behind in order to have in.
It was daybreak when Kurt headed to the streets. Cigarette in hand, he figured he'd just let life lead him for once.

Vinnie got off the plane, the air hit him like a wet towel in the face that has been lying on a sunbed all day. This is more like it.. Vinnie thought happily to himself.
He had gotten through customs, after having to part with the contents of his hip flask. No matter, it'll be filled soon enough.
Out of the airport and on the bus to the city centre Vinnie was thinking all the while about his ring, and what other treaures might be out there, just waiting. Soon enough Vinnie fell asleep.

Kurt stumbled out of the cafe. He had finished breakfast and he wasn't quite prepared to go home and sleep. Stumbling down the sidewalk, Kurt held his cigarette in one hand and a cup of coffee on the other.
An object... There's an object somewhere, and it's fucking near.
In the distance, Kurt spotted a bus come through.

The bus stopped abruptly, which jolted and woke Vinnie up. A few curses and habitual kicks later Vinnie was up and made his way groggily off the bus. He saw a cafe exremely close. It wasn't normally what Vinnie would do but he thought a cup of coffee and a cinnamen roll would be nice. Jingling the change in pocket as he groped his fingers around a few crumpled notes he walked half asleep to the cafe.

Kurt watched as the bus stopped before the cafe he had just left. Keeping watch from where he was, he spotted a man leave the bus and walk inside. He had a feeling about him. It had to be him.

If Vinnie wasn't so jet lagged he would probably have the uneasy feeling he was being watched. But he was, so he didn't.
The door made a little jingle as he stepped through and looked at the pastry delights before him. The girl behind the counter was obviously waiting on him, so he looked up and with a sly grin and his elbow on the table he took his hat off and smoothly said. "Coffee love, and one of those delightful cinnamen rolls there" he added with a wink. Before the girl left the counter Vinnie fell to the ground, unconcious.

Kurt took the seat beside the man he swore had an Object. Pressing his elbows down on the counter, Kurt looked up and said, "Hey Donna, how about another coffee and maybe some pie. What pie do you have in here today?".
Donna handed Kurt and the man beside him coffee and replied, "Pumpkin.".
"Sounds good. I'll have a slice.".

Eventually Vinnie regained his conciousness. He got to his feet, but he moved too fast and head rush fell over his eyes. Seconds later he was OK. The girl who had served him was at a phone, about to call for help while other people stood looking at him. Vinnie just shrugged, picked his hat up and took a number. Taking a seat near the window. Vinnie started playing with toothpicks.

Kurt took his coffee and his pie and approached the man. "That seat across you, is it free?".

Vinnie stopped playing with the tooth picks and looked up, and confidently spoke "Not at all sir, have yourself a seat" Vinnie grinned warmly. "And if I might say so, thats a scrumptuous smelling pie you got there"

"Thank you.", Kurt said as he took a seat across the man. Digging into the pie, Kurt added, "It's as scrumptious as it smells.".
Raising up his hand, Kurt looked at Donna the waitress and said, "A pie for my new friend over here.".
"Coming right up, Kurt.", Donna replied.
"You're not from around here are you?", Kurt asked, looking at the man.

"You're not from around here are you?" "What? Is the accent a dead give away?" Vinnie laughed
"Originally, I'm an Ireland boy then moved to California. Shite happened and here I am, here in Arizona. Not much of a story but hell, you gotta admit that travel stories usually bore the balls off of ya?" Vinnie laughed harder this time.
Vinnie turned to the waitress and added, "Oh and a glass of a water thanks love."

Donna returned and placed the pie before the Irishman and winked.
Kurt took a cigarette and offered the pack to the man. Lighting the cigarette and taking a drag, Kurt said, "No, I'd love to hear it. I'm a traveler myself. Do share.".

Vinnie started tucking into the pie, he placed a pice in his mouth. Oh it was to die for. Waving his hand to the offer Vinnie leaned back, "What's to tell? Like I said I spent my early years in Ireland, Dublin. Then when I'd felt that I'd had enough of that I saved up to come over here to livce the 'American Dream'. Load'a crap that was eh? Have no job, a shitty little apratment, alcoholic. Yea life ain't all it's cracked up to be. I don't know why I came here, just had a longing to see Arizona I guess, never been here before. Hardly ever even seen pictures, the name though is so.. Seductive, in its own way of course." Vinnie took another mouthful of pie. "So how about you? What's your story?"

"What's my story?", Kurt murmured as she lit another cigarette. "Well, I guess you can say that I was drawn here, you know? By history, by fate, by a lot of things. I was from Texas originally, but I never developed that Texan drawl, you know what I mean? Anyway, I got myself interested in something interesting and it led me all over the world. Arizona's just a base for me.".
